What do we do now?

In the Gospel text on Sunday, we see a very passionate Jesus trying to help us understand the need for urgency to be about the work of the Kingdom of God. Jesus was sent to bring forth the Kingdom of God and he constantly experienced roadblocks that stood in the way of God’s kingdom coming. Jesus consistently faced division and conflict.

We, as Christians, experience similar kind of roadblocks to the coming of God’s kingdom. We face division and conflict in this world. Jesus invites us to understand the urgency to be about understanding the times and then to respond accordingly.

How do we do that?

We listen to the greater community. We seek understanding of what the greater community is telling us. Then we seek to respond to help God’s kingdom come as we do God’s work, with our hands.

For more information about ways that we can respond to the present time with the message of God’s kingdom, request a copy of our September newsletter that will show ways you can help.

If you have a prayer request or wish a conversation, email me at pastor@stmatthews-elca.org.

God’s peace and my prayers,
Pastor Lesley

We Are Reconciling in Christ

We believe that when we say all are welcome to Christ’s table, that all are in fact welcome, no matter their race, ethnicity, nationality or who they love.
