Waiting

I don’t know about you, but I am not good at waiting. I want what I want right now! However, we are entering a season in our church year called Advent and Advent is all about stopping and waiting. In the waiting and in the slowing down a bit, we allow space for God to catch up with us in the chaos and busyness of the preparation for Christmas.

This Advent season, how will you set aside some time to let God catch up with you in the chaos and preparation for Christmas these next few weeks? If you want a way to intentionally set aside some time, you are invited to join us for Mid-Week Wednesday Advent Service at 6:30 pm-7:00 pm at 5709 Wedgwood Dr., Fort Worth. We will be having a quiet, contemplative prayer service with scripture and a brief reflection.

Starting Wednesday 12/1, we will be having our Advent Word of the Day on our Facebook Page (St. Matthews Lutheran Church) that invites us to post a picture that reminds us of the daily word. Online, there will be Wednesday Advent Holden Evening Services and a daily Advent Calendar reflection on our Facebook page.

This Advent season, I pray you will take the opportunity to wait and to hear God’s message of love and acceptance, as we prepare our hearts for the coming of our Lord and Savior, the one who brings hope, peace, joy and love. If you have any prayer requests or just want to talk, please email me at pastor@stmatthews-elca.org

Blessings and prayers,
Pastor Lesley
