The one with the most toys wins?

The world tells us many things about possession. Most of what the world would advise is summed up in this adage: “He who dies with the most toys wins.”

In our text on Sunday, Jesus told us a story about a man who had an abundance of earthly goods and when he died, he left if all behind. Jesus invites us to gather treasure in heaven that is everlasting and eternal.

What are our priorities? How would we define our lives? Is it by the toys we have or is it by the relationship we have with our loving and grace-filled God?

Jesus reminds us ““Take care! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of possessions.”

If you have any prayer concern or wish to have a conversation, please email me at pastor@stmatthews-elca.org

Blessings and prayers,
Pastor Lesley
