Restored

This past Sunday all of our assigned Scripture readings were about restoration. In our Gospel, Bartimaeus asked Jesus to restore his eyesight so that Bartimaeus may be returned to health and community. One might have expected Jesus to say, “Because of my power, you are healed.” Instead, we find Jesus telling Bartimaeus because of his faith he has been made well.

Doesn’t that make you wonder what our faith has to do with our healing, wholeness and restoration. Bartimaeus’ faith allowed him, though he was physically blind, to spiritually see where to go to ask for restoration and healing.

I wonder if we forget at times where to go for restoration. Perhaps we go to our family, or our special place, or ____(fill in the blank,) This week, we are reminded for wholeness and restoration, we are invited to go in faith to our Lord and Savior, healer of our every ill.

Blessings on the rest of your week. May you find time to experience the restorative power of Jesus Christ. If you have any questions or prayer concerns, just reach out to me at pastor@stmatthews-elca.org.

Peace and prayers,
Pastor Lesley
