Healing, wholeness and restoration — Jesus style

Our stories today are about two families seeking healing from Jesus. One is a person of power wanting Jesus to come to his house to heal his 12 year old daughter. Another story is that of an unnamed woman who doesn’t even feel like she can encounter Jesus face to face. She feels the only hope she has is just to touch his robe and be healed through his power. In both cases there is physical healing, but there is so much more. In the little girl’s healing she is restored to community and able to live her life fully.

In the story of the woman, she too is made whole and restored to community and is named and claimed by Jesus as a Daughter, part of the family. She is no longer unnamed and outside the community. Jesus offers healing to us also. Jesus invites us into wholeness and restoration of community so that we might live fully in God’s transformative love. I hope you know this day and always that Jesus loves you and claims you as a child of God.

Apologies for the audio issues. We are working on fixing it for our next service.
