St. Matthew’s Music and Liturgy

Worship at St. Matthew’s is rooted in liturgy, a word that simply means “the work of the people.” It describes the shared rhythm of worship where we gather, hear God’s Word, pray, sing, and share in the sacraments together. In the Lutheran tradition, this pattern helps guide us through a meaningful experience of worship, drawing us into God’s presence and then sending us back out into the world to live our faith.

Music plays an essential role in that experience. In fact, music is woven into the liturgy itself, helping us express our faith, tell God’s story, and participate together in worship. When we sing, pray, and listen, we are not just observing worship, we are part of it. Our voices become one as we proclaim God’s love and respond to what God is doing among us.

At St. Matthew’s, our music ministry helps bring this to life in vibrant and meaningful ways. Our Adult Voice Choir meets on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM during the school year and leads worship regularly. New singers are always welcome to join. The Sounds of Exaltation Handbell Choir, which resumed in January 2026, shares their gifts about once a month and at special services. St. Matthew’s music is led by our Director of Music Ministries, Adam Frame.
